Urwerk shares an exclusive first look video of their new UR-210 watch that we covered with an in-depth preview here. This is going to be a very cool watch to check out in a few months time.
And second, the box in which the watch came in, it is probably one of the best looking watch boxes I have seen, it looks just like a book labeled "THE HISTORY OF THE WHITE HOUSE WASHINGTON" also in the box is a white house challenge coin, that is a beautiful show piece and a great topic for conversation.
For many people, today July 20th, 2012 is another "Batman" day as the latest movie hits theaters. The third Chris Nolan Batman movie opens and brands are eager to capitalize on Bat-fever. In the The Dark Knight Rises Bruce Wayne (played by Christian Bale) wears a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Grande Date. I look forward to seeing if that is a noticeable detail. As a purchasable homage to the movie, Jaeger-LeCoultre has released a limited edition version of the Reverso Ultra Thin Tribute to 1931 watch (read more about the base watch here).
Inside the Horizon KAWS watch is a Swiss ETA 2892 automatic mechanical movement. The case is water resistant to 50 meters and the watch feels good on the wrist - as most all Ikepod watches are. The unique creation will speak the loudest to KAWS fans and collectors. Especially the more dedicated collectors who purchase KAWS' original works. This interesting collaboration watch is a good thing, and I like it when artists unfamiliar with the wrist watch world get involved with these types of projects. Price for the Ikepod Horizon by KAWS watches is ,000 each.
Being BR 01 watches, each of these comes in a 46mm wide square steel case with a PVD black coating. The crystals are sapphire and they come with both a black rubber and canvas strap. Inside the watches are modified Swiss ETA 2892 automatic movements. Though it would seem to make sense that the BR 01 Altimeter has an ETA 2896 given that it has a big date complication. Regardless, the series number indicates it as being in the BR 01-92 collection. It doesn't really matter I guess as the movements are inherently very similar. Each of the BR 01 Horizon, Altimeter, and Turn Coordinator watches are limited to 999 pieces and should be a serious consideration if you are a fan of the BR 01 watch range.
Crystal: Domed anti-reflective, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal.
How is the Tank watch like a tank (doesn't that sound like something Lewis Carroll would write)? Hard to say for sure. Some say that the shape of the watch was said to look like a tank. Other people say that the watch is supposed to look like tank treads. Others say the shape is less important than the fact that it was a French way of honoring American tanks that helped secure victory in World War I. And still others argue whether or not the tank was designed to honor American or French tanks. It is a fascinating little mystery and one that I enjoy as it shows even huge brands like Cartier had humble beginnings (with equally humble record keeping departments).
The Seiko Astron GPS Solar is not a small watch - but it is relatively light (but not cheaply so). The case is 47mm wide in a very high quality titanium or steel. It is also 16.5mm thick. The polish is quite good and Seiko was smart to include a highly scratch resistant ceramic bezel in black on all models. Some of the pieces are in IP black as well. In total, there are four different limited edition models for 2012. Two in titanium and two in steel. As you can see, the dial colors vary from being accented with white, gold, or blue.
Ball specially designed the watches to harken to design elements on many BMW cars both inside and outside of the vehicle. Curves on the case represent the same design ethos as the sharp yet deliberate lines on the outside of today's BMW automobiles. You can look at the unique lug angles as well as sides of the cases which on some models is meant to look like the front grill of a BMW. The steel cases will have some contrast finishing as well which ought to look quite nice.
Dial designs (aside from the new colors) are what we have come to expect from the annual Grand Prix de Monaco Historique race watches. Nice applied hour indicator, bold hands, lume, and the right mixture of character and elegance. The 42.4mm wide watch cases are light - being done in titanium. The gray color of the metal is really enhanced due to the matte finishing used on the cases. Yet another gray tone is used for the tachometer bezel insert. In addition to the all-titanium model with its orange accents, there is a titanium and 18k rose gold model with blue accents. Both are nice but I think the gold and titanium model has the edge style-wise. Of course it does! It costs more.
Who is behind all this? A guy named Craig von Babylon (really, "from Babylon?") who is also the president of Couronne Jewels and Watches - a retailer in New Orleans. All the movements are Swiss, with New Orleans Watch Company sourcing movements from Soprod. Specifically, the movements are the A10-2 automatics (these have the exposed balance wheels on them). So say hello again to a bit more watch love from right here in the US of A (with Swiss guts).
How can you enjoy a PetStraps watch strap? The process is fun and easy. If you anticipate the passing of a family member (non-human preferably), PetStraps will arrange for a courier to be on notice 24 hours a day in your area. You'll be given a special number to call after the final moments to arrange for immediate pick up. If the passing is unexpected, you can ship the pet to PetStraps overnight in a foam cooler with ice packs. PetStraps highly recommends placing a notice on the side of the cooler indicating that the "contents do not include human organs." That will certainly prevent delays in delivery. After a few weeks (depending on the strap and pet), you'll get a package in the mail that you'll love more than the new animal you purchased to replace the old one. "Strap Everlasting" is their motto.
I think Bremont has really nailed the proportions for the dial design for this case size (which is the same on the majority of their watches) and buyers will be able to choose between versions with a blue, white, or black dial. The ALT1-WT comes fitted to a leather strap with a sporty Bremont deployment buckle and includes a leather wallet to hold the watch and strap tool. The entire package will be available for 95 USD which is good value considering much of the competition. IWC offers a Pilot Worldtimer but it carries a list price in excess of 00 and, much like the Alpina Worldtimer Manufacture (around 00), does not boast a chronograph nor the hardened steel case (though you do get in-house movements on the IWC and the Alpina). Even within Bremont the ALT1-WT is well priced, as it represents only a small increase in price over the ALT1-P or the ALT1-Z chronographs (50 and 50, respectively)
The Omega Seamaster GMT James Bond just feels right at 140 grams, and it superbly molds and wraps around one's wrist. For the relatively fair price of ,400, it is one of the best entry-level diver watches on the market. It is bound to provide years of great service and accurate time keeping whether you spend your time in or out of the water or live the jet setting lifestyle of agent 007.

Always a great value, the 7751 is built on the 7750 and adds an annual calendar, synced 24 hour hand and moon phase indicator. You can see the movement through the sapphire caseback and Ferragamo has a custom rotor in the mix as well. Not sure about price, but I do know that Ferragamo will offer the 1898 Moonphase Chronograph as a limited edition of just 150 pieces.
The multi-level blue dial of the watch is set with diamonds which represent actual constellations. Note the diagram below which points them out and also shows that the intersecting point of the hour and minute hands is meant to represent the position of Polaris. What I love is how the dial, flange ring, and bezel are all in blue to maximize the appearance of the night sky theme. That little ring of gold between them is classy as well. Lovers of astronomical themed timepieces will have a lot to enjoy here.
The C900 features a 43mm case with a thickness of 15.7 mm so the size should suit nearly any wrist. Inside, the JJ02 hand wound calibre features traditional timekeeping with a sub-dial devoted to a 30 minute measure for the chronograph, and one to display the running seconds. The dial design is a mix of thin baton markers, roman numerals at six and twelve, and lovely needle-point hands. The effect is luxurious yet muted and can be matched with either a black or brown leather strap.
