Moving back, the rotating bezel on the watch has an interesting twist. You can move it by itself, but it is a bit too recessed to move comfortably. Instead, the watch had a second diagonally placed crown on the left side of the watch. Turning this crown will move the bezel, in only one direction as is common with diver style rotating bezels. Surprisingly, rotating the bezel yields an extremely satisfying metallic clank. Really makes the case feel solid and hefty when you hear it.
This is one of the rarest Xemex XE 5000 watches out there, and perhaps the most interesting. This is Xemex trying to be even more avant garde and succeeding. The XE 5000 line of Xemex watches was intended to be a higher budget Offroad, and offered complex chronograph and standard three hand models in various flavors.
The piece is finished off with a timeless black alligator strap with a folding buckle which in my eyes further heightens its appeal as so many chronographs these days are fitted with rubber straps, thus precluding them from more formal occasions.

There are a few versions of the watch in terms of dial colors and strap/bracelet options. Palladium dials as well as navy blue dials with various color mixtures. A Palladium 950 bracelet is available or a blue alligator strap with a soft leather lining. Size of the watch is 43mm wide and about 40mm high. A nice size, but not exactly "macho." dimensions. Still a great looking timepiece. Retail prices are very high (k-k), but expect to find them for closer to ,000 in most places.
The Patek Philippe 5180 and 5181 (two different metals used) are part of Patek Philippe's Art Collection. Watches that are designed to be beautiful. This 39mm wide watch contains Patek Philippe's own Caliber 240 automatic movement, that has a mini-rotor. Why a mini-rotor? because it allows for better view of the movement, that is why they were developed. The movement is pretty basic, just the time, but you'd never know it was simple based on how lovely it looks. Like the best skeletonized watches, you see right through the movement through the double sapphire crystal windows (with a slight blue tint). Really nice watch, and you can sure there there is mostly gold in this case and bracelet.
The Early 1990s brought with it the Breitling Aerospace watch line. It was an impressive and technical looking watch that broke the mold by placing a quartz movement in what was typically a mechanical watch. To be fair, the watch had a robust feature set and contained not just any quartz, but a Breitling "Super Quartz" that was accurate to within 5 seconds a years. These special quartz movements were referred to as thermoline quartz movement watches. Search for the term on my site if you want to know more about them.
The watch dial is done in a very turn of the century traditional sense. The beautiful number font is totally old-world classic formality, and really nicely done in this context. The blued steel hands with little circles shout high-end formal watches from when watches first become available. Germans have a bit of a think for looking to the past, and these watches, while thoroughly antique in look, and totally modern in every other way.
It is no surprise that RSW (Rama Swiss Watches) presents another very cool looking watch. The company has been releasing very cool watches for a while, Including their Outland, Puzzle, Nazca, 7th Sense, and Lady Liberty collections. I can also say that they do men's and women's watches with competence. They are still a boutique maker by most means of the definition, which means you'd only know about the company by accidentally stumbling upon them, or if you sought them out directly.
While there are several different Seiko Galante watches pictured here, the black and purple three hand version with a rotating bezel (Seiko Galante ref. SBLA0007) is available on eBay right now for about ,000. The retail prices for these are about ,000- ,000, but they can be found online for around ,500 - $,5000 depending on the model. One thing you can always count on a Seiko watch for is reliability and longevity, especially at these prices.
I learned something recently about Japanese dive watches, especially Seikos; there is a huge fan following around them. These avid watch lovers enthusiastically enjoy the best from the Japanese watch giants, and eagerly anticipate new models. While many of the watches coming from this arena are on the less expensive side of things, there are some models where Seiko (or Citizen) put their "all" in the watches. The Seiko SBDX001 is just such a watch, and has been highly acclaimed as representing an apex in the genre. If you aren't aware of what the genre is, well it is hard to explain because it is more that just a dive watch. Japanese and Swiss dive watches have always been a bit different. The Japanese have a more technical and instrument slant to the design. They also have little quirks like off center crowns, distinct hands, and other unique characteristics. For someone who knows Japanese watches, you know what I mean.
This is the type of watch that you either love or hate. The looks are totally going to be subjective. I personally am fond of the style, though I couldn't wear it everyday. It is an amazingly robust design that frankly does not allow you think of how unpractical it is. Rather, you'll gush over the proud design and article of pride on your wrist.
